Questions Are a Natural Part of the Journey

  • What is a Doula?

Think of me as your birth support person, encourager, and calm in your corner.

As your doula, I’m here to support you throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth with emotional, physical, and informational support. I can help you prepare, talk through your options, learn what to expect, and find ways to feel more confident going into birth.

“So, do you replace my doctor or midwife?”

Nope! Your medical team takes care of the medical side of things. I’m there to support you—helping you feel heard, informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout the experience.

My goal is never to tell you how you should birth. It’s to help you feel confident in your choices and supported every step of the way.

  • When should I hire a doula?

You can reach out to me at any point during your pregnancy, but many families start looking for a doula during the first trimester. Booking earlier gives us more time to get to know each other, build trust, talk through your birth preferences, and prepare for the big day together.

That said, don’t worry if you’re already well into your pregnancy! If your due date is getting closer and you’re thinking, “Is it too late to hire a doula?”, reach out anyway! I’ll let you know what my availability looks like and we can go from there.

There’s no “perfect” time to start. If you’re thinking about having a doula, that’s a great time to start the conversation.

  • Will a doula replace my partner?

Absolutely not! Your partner is your person and no one can replace that.

Think of me as an extra set of hands and another calm, knowledgeable person in your corner. Your partner knows you, your comfort, your personality, what makes you laugh, and what you need when things get hard. I bring experience with birth, comfort measures, positioning, encouragement, and helping you both navigate the process.

And honestly? Your partner gets support, too. Birth can feel like a lot for partners, and they shouldn’t have to feel like they’re responsible for remembering everything or knowing exactly what to do.

We’re a team. Your partner gets to focus on loving and supporting you, while I can step in with the practical birth support and guidance.

I’m not there to take their place, I’m there to help both of you feel more confident and supported.

  • Do you offer postpartum support?

Absolutely! I don’t want the support to stop once your baby arrives. I’ll check in with you and come for a postpartum visit around two weeks after birth, and again around 4 weeks if you want.  We can talk through your birth experience, answer any questions, and just check in on how you and your family are settling into this new season.

And because those early days can be a lot, I’ll bring a family meal and a little birthday treat to celebrate your new baby. It’s my way of making those first weeks feel a little easier, more supported, and cared for.

I offer a postpartum package, too, if you're looking for more extensive help like cooking, cleaning, or help through the day/night with baby.

  • How do I know if we are a good fit?

    Honestly? Let’s just talk!

The first step is a free, no-pressure consultation where we can get to know each other a little. I’d love to hear about your pregnancy, what you’re hoping for in your birth, and what kind of support would make you feel confident and cared for.

You can ask me anything. We can discuss birth, my approach, what it’s like to work with me, or what you can expect from your doula. Most importantly, you should feel comfortable with the person you invite into such an important experience.

There’s no pressure to decide on the spot. We’ll chat, see if we click, and you can decide if I feel like the right fit for you and your family.

  • What if my birth does not go according to plan?

First of all—that’s okay. Birth can be unpredictable, and sometimes things take a turn we didn’t expect.

“So does that mean I shouldn’t make a birth plan?”

Not at all! I’m a big believer in preparing for the birth you hope for while also knowing that birth may ask us to be flexible.

If things change, I’ll be right there with you. I can help you slow down, talk through the options your care team is presenting, ask questions, and make sure you feel informed and involved in the decisions being made.

“So you’ll still support me if things look completely different than I imagined?”

Absolutely. My job isn’t to make sure your birth goes a certain way, it’s to support you through whatever your birth looks like.

Whether everything goes according to plan or we have to completely change course, you deserve to feel heard, respected, supported, and cared for every step of the way.
